Day by Day Itinerary

Day 0- Kazungula

Arrive at Kasane International Airport in Kasane. If you have time, visit the Kazungula market place which has a wide variety of products. Spend the evening at a local restaurant in a family compound where a traditional cooking lesson awaits you.

Day 1 -Kasane

Enjoy an early morning game drive on the Chobe River front. Spend the rest of the day exploring Kasane by bicycle, and spend the evening on a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River.

Day 2- Kasane

Today you will get to experience the beautiful wildlife of Kasane and the Chobe area. From up in the air, from out on the water having lunch on a raft, to some up-close encounters with local fish, birds, reptiles and mammals.

Day 3- Kazungula to shakawe

Drive west across the Caprivi Strip to the town of Shakawe.  The Caprivi Strip is part of Namibia, commonly used as a transit route between Kasane and Maun.

Day 4- shakawe to sepupa

Spend the full day exploring the mysteries of the Tsodilo Hills and their ancient rock art.  You can climb the hills or hike the full 16 km circuit around their base.

day 5- Sepupa to etsha 13

Enjoy some water activities in the Okavango Delta in a dugout canoe with a local community trust.

DRIVING DISTANCE AND TIME (APPROXIMATE) FOR THIS LEG: 40km ~ 40min

Day 6-Etsha 13 to maun

Return to Etsha 13 in your dugout canoe and visit one of the Etsha villages.   Then continue South to Maun. If you have the time, take a detour into Gumare to see the baskets of the Ngamiland area. The Etsha villages were settled by Angolan refugees and they brought their basketry skills with them.  The baskets are real works of art.

Day 7-Maun

Visit the beautiful Lake Ngami in the morning.  Meet the men fishing for the giant African catfish, and see the famous birdlife.  Then enjoy an afternoon of horseback riding amongst the wildlife along the Thamalakane River.

day 8-Maun

Explore the town of Maun and the unique arts and crafts scene before spending the afternoon with some adorable young elephants

Day 9- maun- okavango 

Paddle a kayak up the Thamalakane and Boro Rivers to Chief’s Island, part of the Moremi Game Reserve. You will be paddling past waterbuck, lechwe, hippos and Nile crocodiles.

Day 10- okavango to maun 

Explore Chief’s Island, home to cheetah, African wild dogs and many more before paddling downriver back to Maun.

Day 11- maun to gweta

Drive east to the traditional village of Gweta. If you have time, take a short detour along the way to search for Homo erectus tools in the bed of the Boteti River. Experience the charms of Gweta, including a village tour and a night on the Makgadikgadi Pans.

day 12-Gweta to nata

Enjoy a visit to a colony of meerkats on the edge of the Ntwetwe Pan.  Then continue  East to explore Nata and the NE shore of the Sua Pan before your dinner date with the Elephants of Elephant Sands

day 13- Nata to kasane

Drive North to Senyati with time for stops at  places of interest such the black cotton soils in Pandamatenga, and the Lesoma Memorial to Botswana soldiers killed in 1977 when the brutal civil war in Rhodesia spilled across the border.
